We have hawkers food in Perth!

You bet we do!  In Malaysia and Singapore, hawkers food is popular. Now we have in Perth. The Nasi Lemak and the Penang Fried Kuay Teow are just 2 of the many hawker foods in Perth. We don't just have hawker style food like the ones I have just mentioned but also Malaysian and Singapore dishes that you would order and eat with rice.
Let's talk about hawkers food. That's the topic. Hawkers food to my understanding is served as a single complete dish. Take for example the Nasi Lemak which I have mentioned. It is complete as it is served with coconut rice plus hard boiled egg, curry chicken, sambal chilli (a type of chilli paste), fried peanuts with fried anchovies and so forth, as shown in the photo below.

Best way to understand hawkers food is have a look at different hawkers in Malaysia and Singapore (maybe youtube them). The hawkers only usually cook one type dish and it is a complete dish. As in you won't need any extra side main dish to go with it. You can just eat it as it is served. Another popular hawker food worthwhile mentioning is the Penang Fried Kuay Teow (Penang is an Island in Malaysia). Here's what it looks like (Kuay Teow meaning flat rice noodle):
You can just eat it as it is served. Notice the sambal chilli on the side: acts as a 'dipping'. This sambal chilli version is rather different to the one in Nasi Lemak. Ok...so now you know 2 hawkers food...oh! i was at Malaysian Dining Delights on Manning road, Bentley when i ordered these 2 hawkers food. Now i wanna just let you in on something more about hawkers food in Perth. I have found that you can't get all of your favourite hawkers food in one eating place. Say for instance if you like the Malaysian Chicken rice (1st photo below), then you will find that the most popular place for this is at Ten Ten kitchen on Albany Highway, Victoria Park. And if u like the hawkers food Fish Pieces with Rice Noodle in milky broth soup (2nd photo below), then you find that, in my opinion the best, at Ya Kwang Singapore hawkers food in Spencer Village in the surburb of Thornlie. So there's no way you can find all of your favourite hawkers food in one place in Perth. You'll just have to hunt around which eating place is popular for what. Usually where there are many Asians going to an eating place, it's usually a good sign (or is it? your taste buds will tell) If you are searching how authentic that hawker food is, you will have to compare with the pros in Malaysia and Singapore and match with the ones in Perth. Should you find something close enough, i'd say that would be good enough for Perth. Happy tasting!

That's just cut chilli with vinegar and soy sauce mix on the side as a 'dipping' (in photo number 2).
